Halloween High Tea

It's a Mad Tea Party at Marie's Maison and you're all invited! I'm feeling a little festive, so for Halloween, I am hosting high tea with friends and family. I have been busy prepping for this partea which will be "Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland" inspired. Let me show you what's in store:

I was looking for a "white rabbit" clock and found these items while thrifting. These finds are my thrifty bargains of the century!

Look at these prices...$1.95 and 65 cents for these milky white tea set!!!

This vintage German clock only cost me $5 bucks...and it still works

The two white face clocks are $10 and $5, the cups and saucers are a buck each...old bound books, 50 cents!

The partea will be in the garden. My plan is to hang teacups, teapots, and teabags all over.

Also found these glittery white moon face and stars garland while thrifting

And these really cool whimsical mushrooms...added more white pumpkins and gourds

I've prepared labels that read "eat me" and "drink me"...I will add more photos of my mad tea party in my next post. These are just "dress rehearsal" photos I took yesterday.

And a few more of my Halloween decor...

Hope you could really join me!
Happy Halloween to everyone!

I'll be really busy so I'm now linking this post with the following linky parties:

A Perfect Day for Tea and Breakfast in Bed

I think my favorite room in mon petit cottage is ma chambre à coucher (my bedroom) simply because it's bright and comfortable. It's a small space but has room for mon cheri et moi to have tea and breakfast in bed whenever we want to. Last Sunday was one of those days...gloomy, cold and misty. A perfect day to stay in bed, have breakfast, sip tea and read...and so we did!

Here's our bedroom...tea time :-)

I recently added this pennant made from french postcards and spelled "je t'aime." It adds a bit of boho style and a splash of color to the room, I think.

A cup of hot passion fruit tea is perfect for moi this morning, and the eggs are still coddling

A light european breakfast is always good for me so here's some aebleskiver (danish pancakes) and pithivier (french puff pastry). Some berries, chocolates and what...fortune cookies???

This tea set is my favorite among all my tea collection. It was a bridal shower gift from my Mom and brother.

It is called the the Butterfly Meadow collection from Lenox. I love the colors, the butterflies, the grasshopper on the saucer and the lady bug in the teacup!

J'adore the butterfly handle on the lid of the teapot also. By the way, notice the teabag dishtowel?

Lastly, here is the vanity section in my bedroom and there's my other french mirror called "oeil de boeuf" (meaning bullseye reminiscent of french architecture). If you look on the table, you'll see that I use the sugar and creamer set from the same tea set as my jewelry holder.

Why??? Well because I want to be able to use this set everyday, and since I don't have formal tea every single day, why not repurpose!

Merci for viewing and don't forget that there's still time to join my gift raffle, so please do enter for a chance to win a few cutesy items from Marie's Maison. Linking to Tea Cup Tuesday hosted by Martha and Terri.

Mon Petit Salon

Literally, I have been feathering my nest lately, in particular mon salon (living room). As you know, my cottage Marie's Maison, is très très petit and so is my living room. As soon as you walk in through the front door, there is no hallway and you step right into the living room. It also doesn't help that my living room furniture in this tiny space are the same furniture I owned when we were still living in a mcMansion in the suburbs. Since we've moved here, I have been dying to replace my white oversized "shabby chic" style sofa. At last, a replacement has been found...voila, introducing Le Chloe Metro Sofa!

J'aime the style of this sofa coz it's a bit modern, and a bit classic, and best of all, much smaller than my last sofa but still comfortable enough. Of course with this new sofa, I now have freedom to rearrange everything.

BEFORE - This was my previous oversized sofa and furniture placement

AFTER - This is how it looks now...well as of yesterday (ha!ha!)

BEFORE

AFTER

For me, this furniture placement gives the living room an illusion of a hall space

There is my electric "faux" fireplace. Unfortunately we have no real fireplace here. As you can see, I have started to do a bit of "Halloween" decorating

This wall cabinet with shutter doors is where I hide the 42" flat screen TV

Just doing a bit of style photography using my white french trumeau mirror

Here's another one

If you haven't noticed, this is an old table I painted and decoupaged way back when...

J'adore the image of this un petit garçon doing his business on the tree, while the une petite amie is shocked...it reads "ce que c'est pratique" meaning...well, how practical!

So, any thoughts about my new furniture placement? Should I move the new sofa back against the wall?
