My Life in a Tiffany Bleu House

My Most Memorable Days in 2010

It's been such a busy holiday season for moi, and particularly such a busy year, for everyone no doubt, then all of a sudden a co-worker of mine just screamed..."I can't believe it will be 2011 next week!!!"

For me though, one of the best things about blogging is that I am now able to look back and reminisce about my most memorable days this year, from January to December. Here are some highlights about moi and mon petite maison for 2010:

JANUARY - I took a sculpting class but wasn't good at it...I'm an impatient artist, have always been, sculpting is not for me.

FEBRUARY - I saved another life...a dog's life. I rescued Coco from the humane society and gave her to my mother. Now, Coco is very well taken care of and she and Mom are perfect companions!

MARCH - I built and installed window boxes in the front part of Marie's Maison

APRIL - This month was dedicated to "pimping" mon jardin :-) First, I improved my front garden by removing HUGE chunks of lawn grass in front and sidewalk. Lawns in SoCal are water wasters and next year, I plan to remove them all.

Second, I put up two posts in my backyard for my Guatemalan crocheted hammock

MAY - Mon cheri et moi celebrated our 9th year anniversary in Carmel by the Sea and Monterey Peninsula.

MAY - Also, I took Mom and my daughter Jill to a mother's week trip to Spain. It was my Mom's first trip to Europe, and we all had the best time, definitely memories that we will never forget!

June - Took a road trip to New Orleans with my best friend and together with her family and mine, we did volunteer work that benefited the people affected by the oil spill disaster in the gulf.

JULY - Took cake decorating classes and LOVED IT!!! I realized how much I love baking and cake decorating in these few classes I took. If I could only afford to go to an executive pastry school I would. The impatient artist in me disappeared and really enjoy taking my time when decorating my cakes.

AUGUST - This was a busy month for me! First, I finally completed the guest room re-do...

Second, I traded in my 2000 Lexus RX 300 which was a major gas guzzler to a Prius Hybrid. My gas savings is huge...from $240 a month, down to $60 a month!!!

Lastly, I taught myself to make French macarons ala Laduree in Paris

SEPTEMBER - I became cake crazy! First, I made tons of cakes/cupcakes for my cousin's baby shower...

Then, I organized my cute baby niece's first birthday party and made tons more cakes/cupcakes. YES...I was crazy for cakes!!!

Then finally, I graduated from my cake decorating class...here's my pièce de résistance...gateux ala Marie Antoinette...bravisimo!!!

OCTOBER - Hosted a costume Halloween High Tea Party

NOVEMBER - Another trip with my BFF, this time in Charleston, SC. Wheww...I just realized that I took quite a few vacation trips this year, which now explains why I'm seriously broke...SERIOUSLY!!!

DECEMBER - Of course this month was understandably busy because of the holidays and spending time with my loved ones. However, I am proud to say that I've taken another leap of faith and opened Marie's Marché, a tiny 70 sq ft store space located in the village of Carlsbad. Although my space is tiny, my merchandise are one of a kind, and french-inspired. I'll do another post about this new business venture and it's location next month.

Au revoir for now and I hope year 2010 was memorable for all of you as well! Here's looking at year 2011!!!

Joyeux Noel - Merry Christmas - Feliz Navidad

It's 10 days till Christmas, and I'm slooowwllly getting ready for it. I think this is it for my home decor though...I'm done decking my home for Christmas.

Now it's time for me to get out there and brave the stores to finish gift shopping. Meanwhile, I've invited my neighbor to meet me at home for dessert then we're off to the mall tonight.

See my new "old chippy vintage" scale? I just got that last week from Kate's booth at Country Roads Antiques in Old Town Orange, CA. Kate has a very pretty blog and is one of my favorite to read.

By the way, I have to show you this new teacup and teapot I got two weeks ago at the consignment store.

Eight bucks for this special teapot, (wait till you see what it is), and three bucks for the teacup

The teapot is actually a musical teapot...I couldn't resist for $8 dollars???

I thought using this empty vintage frame as a Christmas card holder is cool.

I'm wishing everyone the very merriest of Christmas and take it easy out there. No use to get too stressed out, as we all remember the "true meaning of Christmas!"

Christmas Sparkles

It's been a really hectic week for me. I've started a new business venture (which I will blog about soon), which is why I haven't been able to read or join blogs lately for which I apologize. However, as soon as I arrived home last night, I had the energy to dig up my old "sparkly" Christmas decor and decided to decorate my chandeliers in the kitchen and dining room. I also played some Christmas tunes while doing this which helped a lot that although I was exhausted, it was still very enjoyable for me.

I added some greens which were my next door neighbor's clippings from their Christmas tree. When I told her my tree this year is made of twigs, she saved the clippings from her tree and delivered them in my front porch...yes, I have very nice neighbors!

This arrangement is in my living room

And here's my vintage snowman barely one foot feather tree

Hope your week is not as hectic as mine. Happy decorating! Linking this post with Courtney's Feathered Nest Holiday party from French Country Cottage.
